Committees

Welcome » Committees

BSOA Bylaws allow the Board of Directors to create committees to act on their behalf on matters referred by the Board. A formal Policy Resolution adopted in 1997 establishes three types of Committees which may be formed by a majority vote of the Board:

  • Standing Committees – Exist until abolished by the Board;
  • Committees – Exist on an annual basis and must be renewed through Board action; and
  • Ad Hoc Committees – Exist to carry out a specific task. Ad Hoc Committees are terminated when the task is complete.
Big Sky Architectural Committee

All new construction and any exterior changes to your home or landscaping (tree removal, grading, etc.) requires review and approval by the Big Sky Architectural Committee. To start the process, contact the BSAC Coordinator, at (406) 995-4166 or bsac@bigskyoa.org.

The BSAC consists of seven members: three appointed by the Big Sky Resort (original Big Sky developer); two BSOA Board of Directors (who are elected by the Membership and appointed to the BSAC by the Board of Directors); and two additional members elected by the Membership. The BSAC is given its authority through the Covenants as well as the BSOA Bylaws and other Governing Documents. The BSAC exists to provide Owners guidance and approval for quality and thoughtful design and construction of property improvements in the BSOA.

The BSAC meets between 1 and 2 times per month (Thursday mornings) depending upon the current construction activity in the BSOA jurisdiction. The Committee is guided by a routinely updated Design Regulation written with the intent to meet the same goals originally proposed: to provide guidance for quality and thoughtful design and construction of property improvement in Big Sky’s progressive development environment.
