Enforceable Speed Limits
If a public road in Gallatin County does not have an ordinance for a speed limit, the Montana State default is 70 mph applies, regardless of whether a sign is currently posted.
In late April, the BSOA petitioned the Gallatin County Commission to limit the speed on the 1.7 mile length of Little Coyote Road to 25 miles per hour. The Little Coyote Road Speed Limit Ordinance Number 2011-001 had its First Reading and Approval on May 10, 2011. The Second Reading and Approval occurred on May 24, 2011.
The enforceable speed limit on Little Coyote Road is now 25 miles per hour.
If you observe speeders on LIttle Coyote Road, please contact the Gallatin County Sheriff at (406) 995-4880.
